Chapter 1

ORCEL and Myra sat down together in the long chair. That's how they leaned their backs against the wooden barrier.
     "My gosh. It's really tiring!"
"You said it, Myra; you know that when we move to another town like this, we do a lot."
"Yeah, sometimes I think that I want to go home, Orcel."
Orcel looked at Myra."Go home; then what, Myra? It isn't easy to find a job now. And our job is the easiest work to do."
Myra agrees with what Orcel said and she even nodded her head. "I wonder, Orcel. Do you seem to enjoy this kind of work? While there are many good jobs in Manila that you can get into. And come on, we've been together for a long time; you don't talk about where you're from and what your life was like before we didn't know each other yet?
     "Me?" Orcel even pointing herself.
"No, Orcel, the next person to you. Who else? We're the only ones here."
"You really make it compelling to talk, Myra. Me, I live a simple life. Sometimes it's happy. Sometimes it's not. Sometimes it makes me cry. Sometimes it's funny. And Som..."
"Hey, stop!" Myra weaned. Maybe she can say it all sometimes. "That's crazy sometimes, Orcel. Just answer my question: "Why are you happy with what you're doing here at the fair?"
In truth, she did not want to talk about her past life. Especially in her life now, she is happy now. She had the freedom to do whatever she wanted without anyone interfering. "You are inquisitive. You know, Myra, if you love something, you should enjoy it so you don't get bored."
"Oh, are you two done putting your things inside your sleeping place?"
They looked at the one who spoke at the same time. "It's done, boss," Myra replied.
"Hey girl! How many times do I have to tell you, madam, that's what you call me? Is it that I look like a boss, huh? I'm prettier than you?" he against it what Myra said.
Because of what their gay boss said, the two held back their laughter.
"Oh, why are your faces like that? It can't be painted anymore; go ahead and rest because we'll start the show later."
"Right away, boss?" Myra complained. Well, they've just arrived; they need to rest; maybe they'll open tomorrow.
Their boss raised an eyebrow that was just drawn with eye liner. Since Orcel saw this, she immediately elbowed her friend.
     "Ouch, why, Orcel?"
Orcel used her lips to point out what she saw, and Myra immediately understood what she meant.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Madam, could you please lower down your eyebrow?"
"Hmp! Why, Myra, do you have a complaint if we're going to open right away?" He even raised his eyebrows, and they met together.
"Oh no, madam, I was just a joke. Please take it down; maybe later it won't be equal; you'll ruin your beauty." She referred to his eyebrows.
Because of what Myra said, their boss immediately smiled.
"Hmp! Come on, rest now!" Then he turned back.
When their boss is gone. "It's good that he's so easily believing that gay man who loves to be told he's beautiful, but the truth is he looks like a buffalo!"
Orcel laughed. "Hey, Myra, if he finds out later that you said you were scolded by the buffalo, he'll be very angry with you."
Myra laughed too. "You too, Orcel!"
"To be fair, you're my best friend, Myra; let's go rest now."
Orcel and Myra were smiling as they headed to their beds.
By nightfall, the entire town of San Vicente was engulfed by the noise coming from the fair.
The noise was heard all the way to the mansion of the Victorinos.
"Grandpa, please let's go to the fair now!" Don Martin Victorino's two grandchildren said pleadingly.
"Please, please. Grandpa, it's only now that there's a carnival here; we want to see it," said the two children again.
Don Martin smiles because he knows the kids keep asking him to go. "Okay, but I'm not the one who comes with you because it's bad for Grandpa to stay up late."
"Grandpa, who is coming with us?"
"Lina," he called to their maid.
The lady came and immediately approached them. "Why, sir?" she asked.
"Ah, Lina, you're the one who went with these two mischievous kids."
"Where shall I go with them, sir?"
"Auntie at the carnival," replied the boy.
     "Ah, at the fair!"
"Yes, Auntie Nena," the kids said it excitedly.
"Alright Lina, take someone with you; I know you can't handle these two."
     "All right, sir."
     "Yehey!" they said happily.
Don Martin smiled again; his grandchildren were very happy. Well, seeing them happy makes him happy too.
     "Grandpa, we're leaving."
"Nicole, Nick, you two behave; don't reprimand, and always be by Lina's side, okay?" Don Martin told his grandchildren.
     "Yes, Grandpa."
"Alright, go now so you can go home early. Or, just wait for your Uncle Anthony, because I'll tell him later to take you home, Lina. Just look at them, okay."
"Yes, sir, don't worry; I'll take care of them."
When they left the house, the siblings were very happy and waved at their grandfather, who led them to the gate.
The Don just smiled when he saw the happiness of the grandchildren. Fortunately, their mother left them before she went with another man. Because of the two children, the inside of the mansion was alive.
The Don was about to enter when his son Anthony arrived; he stopped in front of him.
Anthony wondered why the father was outside at night; he put it down the window. "Dad, what are you doing here?"
"Nothing, son, I just brought your nephews here."
Anthony frowned at what his father said."Why, where did they go, Dad?"
"There at the fair, son, they tease me to join them, but I can't stay up late; you know this."
"Yes, Dad, you really can't be tired and stay up late."
"Alright, son, come inside now and take some rest first so you can pick them up later, okay? Have you eaten, Anthony?"
"Not yet, Dad, but I'm not hungry."
"Okay, if you're hungry, just tell them."
"Okay, Dad, I'll go see them later; I don't have anything else to do."
Anthony went first, and when he stepped out of his car, he waited for his father so that they could go inside the house together.
