Chapter 01

The first time I saw Erin Sutton, William's eyes lit up.
     I furrowed my brow, wary.
She looked too much like me.
It was as if she was molded from the same cast.
Even her brown, wavy hair and slim waist were identical.
I confirmed I was an only child, with no siblings.
So this woman was clearly brought in with intent.
In our line of work, we're all cautious.
Building a gang is no easy feat, and we've suffered much to get to this point.
I wouldn't allow anyone to ruin it.
Erin Sutton was trembling on the ground, her pale face glistening with sweat.
I pressed my gun to her forehead, coldly asking, "Who sent you? Speak!"
She seemed never to have seen a gun before and started crying, repeatedly saying, "No one sent me, really! I just wandered in the wrong place!"
Though she said that, her eyes kept darting towards William Reid.
Her intentions were all too clear.
Using my face to seduce my man.
I stood up, about to make a move, when William's voice came from behind me:
     "Wait."
He stepped over, gently pressing my hand down.
He kept his gaze fixed on Erin, his sharp profile stern but his voice laced with amusement.
"Do you know how to use a gun?"
As he spoke, he snatched my handgun and tossed it to Erin.
My heart sank, my brows furrowing deeper as I instinctively shielded William behind me.
But when Erin saw the gun, she immediately flinched and wouldn't take it.
She screamed like a frightened rabbit, "Ah! Don't kill me! I really went to the wrong place!"
William slowly smiled, showing interest as he watched her for a moment before turning to me.
"Why are you afraid? She can't even use a gun; let's keep her."
Looking at the fragile Erin Sutton and then at William's intrigued expression, I couldn't shake my bad feeling.
She looked so much like me, so weak, and appeared so abruptly.
     It all felt too strange.
I shook my head in disagreement, cautiously stating, "Though she doesn't show signs of plastic surgery, her sudden appearance is suspicious."
     "Keeping her around is dangerous."
     William stroked my hair.
     "It's just a woman. It's fine."
I wanted to say more but was interrupted by his cold glare.
He looked at me with disdain:
"Amber Willis, can't you just let someone else exist?"
