Chapter 1
On the day of the betrothal banquet, Elisa, burst in disheveled and covered in wounds. With a loud "thud", she dropped to her knees and wailed with tears streaming down her face,
"Elder sister, you had someone sever my tendons in my hands and feet. I'm ruined for life, and I can never compete with you again. Please, don't send me to prison. Don't separate me from our brothers and Alpha Jacob. I'm begging you!"
The eldest brother's face instantly darkened, as if a storm was brewing.
In a flash, he lunged forward.
He hoisted my entire body off the ground, and my feet flailed wildly in mid - air.
I desperately tried to pry his hands away with my own, but it was in vain.
The second brother was even more enraged.
He immediately flipped the table, sending plates, bowls crashing to the ground with a chaotic clatter.
Without hesitation, he grabbed a dinner knife, his eyes ablaze with ferocity.
In a few quick strides, he rushed towards me and plunged the knife deep into my thigh. Instantly, blood spurted out, and the excruciating pain tore a heart - rending scream from my throat.
My fiancé, Alpha Jacob, his eyes as cold as ice, didn't hesitate for a moment.
He immediately announced the cancellation of our betrothal.
Ignoring my struggles, he dragged my blood - soaked and wounded body to the car like a sack of garbage.
The car sped away, and he heartlessly delivered me to that pitch - black and hopeless prison.
The moment I arrived at the prison, several guards surrounded me.
In their hands were sharp needles, which they jabbed into my body without a word of explanation.
Each needle pierced deep, and soon, my body was covered in a dense array of blood spots.
The excruciating pain was unbearable, causing me to roll on the cold, filthy ground, howling in agony.
After three long years, I, wrapped in a tattered and filthy cotton - padded jacket, was sent to Alpha Jacob's mansion.
Alpha Jacob and my eldest brother, Jones, stood in the spacious study.
Jones's eyes widened in anger, and the disgust on his face was palpable.
He roared at me, his voice echoing through the study,
"Selina, what on earth is wrong with your thick skull? It's the middle of summer, and you're wrapped in this heavy knitted cloak. Are you trying to stage some ridiculous farce to get attention? And what about the top - of - the - line restoration potion I sent you with a special messenger? That cost a fortune! Did you pour it down the drain like it was foot - washing water? Look at your face! Instead of getting better, it's become even more terrifying. You're like a walking horror mask! If you scare Elisa out of her wits later, your life won't be enough to make up for it! "
My head spun wildly
I lifted my head slowly.
The name "Selina" had been buried in the depths of my memory for three long years. Now, when it came out of Jones's mouth, it felt as if it was from a distant, forgotten world.
The instant Alpha Jacob's eyes landed on my face, a fierce blaze of anger ignited within them.
With a swift "whoosh", he whipped out a sharp folding knife from his pocket.
His fingers twitched nervously, rapidly opening and closing the blade.
Each time the blade flashed, its cold glint was like a deadly arrow piercing straight into my heart.
The appearance of that knife...
It was exactly like the scalpel that had once sliced through my flesh without mercy.
Beads of cold sweat broke out all over my back, and the excruciating pain of that scalpel cutting through my skin and reaching my very marrow surged back like a violent tide, overwhelming me completely.
The next second, I dropped to my knees with a loud "thud".
My forehead hit the hard floor, producing dull "thumps".
Soon, thin streaks of blood oozed from my forehead.
I wailed, tears streaming down my face, and cried out in a sobbing voice,
"I was wrong! Please, please don't cut me with that scalpel again. I'll do whatever you ask. Please, spare me this time... I'm at your mercy now.
The moment I stepped into that pitch - black, godforsaken prison, nightmares latched onto me like relentless shadows.
A group of ferocious prison guards, their eyes ablaze with sadistic glee, roughly pinned me down onto the cold, hard bed.
"Do you know what you've done wrong?"
For every question, they would slice a new wound into my flesh with a scalpel, all without the mercy of anesthesia.
The searing pain was so intense that it felt as if they were tearing me apart limb from limb.
While they cut, they hurled insults at me. "You're nothing but a worthless, unwanted mongrel! Alpha Jacob and Sarina are a match made in heaven!"
At first, I fought back.
I thrashed and struggled.
But for each act of resistance, they would brutally remove a part of my body.
They took chunks of my flesh, severed tendons, and even broke bones, leaving me a broken and bleeding mess.
