Chapter 1
"Roselin, we've been married for five years. If there's anything you want, as long as I can do it, I'll do my best to satisfy you." Mark Goden's tone carried a hint of restrained impatience.
"At the beginning, our union might have been a forced business alliance. I know we may not be the most suitable couple." He had no intention of spending a lifetime with a woman who hired paparazzi to invade his privacy through various unsavory means, interfering with his social freedom.
Roselin took the divorce agreement, counted the zeros at the end – a divorce settlement that could be considered astronomical.
Mark Goden was good at making money, she always knew, but she didn't expect him to be this successful. With this money and the shares of Goden Group, she could live a luxurious life for generations to come.
"This distribution is reasonable, and I'm satisfied. However, I have an additional request." Roselin regained her composure and began to express her conditions.
"Let's not make it public," she added. "You can rest assured, it won't take too long, and it won't affect your future relationships."
Mark Goden, who initially had a calm expression, furrowed his brows at the second half of her statement. Although he had no emotions beyond marriage, she insisted on thinking otherwise. He decided to solidify her perception and agreed to the divorce.
"Fine," he replied succinctly.
As soon as the words fell, Roselin signed her name without hesitation. Seeing her sign the agreement, Mark Goden visibly relaxed, the five years of marriage having taken a toll on him.
"Mr. Goden, from now on, let's part ways amicably. When fate brings us together in the business arena, go easy on us, small enterprises like ours." Mark Goden had few virtues – aside from being handsome and wealthy, his personal life was a mess, and he didn't know how to treat his wife. He rarely visited the villa they shared.
Once, she called him late at night, asking when he would be home. A flirtatious woman answered the phone, and it was obvious what they were up to. Mark Goden's words after a night of drinking pierced her heart, "Roselin, I'd rather have other women than touch you."
It stung, and at that moment, she realized that all those years of youth were wasted. From the beginning to the end, it was wishful thinking, and her beacon of light was extinguished.
Five years of marriage revealed his true nature, and this famous but unreal husband was not stingy in the distribution of divorce property. Now, the only concern was explaining it to the old man. When the business was struggling, the old man sought Mark Goden's help through their connections. Eventually, with the influence of Old master Jerrif Goden's past, Mark Goden climbed the ladder from a mid-level manager to the CEO of Goden Group.
They were supposed to be married into the Goden family, with her marrying Frank Goden. However, the old man insisted on Mark Goden, and she happened to fall for him. The old man specifically wanted Mark Goden to marry her. Yet, within five years, Mark Goden rose from a mid-level manager to the CEO of Goden Group.
From the moment he married her, Mark Goden might have regretted it. He showed indifference at their wedding, and later on, he was cold towards her. They were wrong from the start.
Roselin stared out the window, her thoughts swirling. She quickly packed her bags, called her assistant, and left the house in a hurry.
A day's work was delayed, and she returned to the office for overtime in the evening. As if sensing something, Old master Shark Bran called soon after.
"Roselin, how's Mark lately? Any conflicts between you two?" Old master Shark Bran inquired cautiously.
"Of course, everything is fine, grandpa," she replied.
"That's good. Your parents passed away early, and I only hope to find someone reliable for you in my lifetime, so Cecy Group's enormous responsibility doesn't weigh solely on you..."
Listening to her grandfather's rambling, her heart felt a pang, eyes reddening. She whispered, "I understand, grandpa."
The topic then shifted to the old man's perennial advice, "Having a child will make your relationship more stable."
"You should move back to Cecy Group for a while, relax your mind," he suggested.
"Grandpa, do you really want to hold a great-grandchild?" she asked.
"Of course, I dream about it."
"Well, if I let you hold a great-grandchild, could you promise me something afterward?"
Old master Shark Bran's eyes lit up, "If you let me hold a great-grandchild, I'd promise you not just one thing, but a hundred."
After hanging up the phone, Roselin had another thought. She dialed another number, "Help me send out a message through your private channels."
"Of course, Miss Cecy. What message would you like to send?" her high-level private assistant, Aaron, asked respectfully.
"Just send out a message seeking a child with a high reward. Write, 'Due to the husband's infertility, seeking a healthy male for co-pregnancy, generous rewards offered,'" Roselin said casually.
"Do you have any specific requirements for the other party?"
"He should be handsome, with an impressive physique, tall and with long legs. Preferably with a higher education background, and lastly, skilled in certain areas. The price is negotiable."
"When would you like this done?"
"The sooner, the better."
